Ward 3

Mark Gormley
I am running for City Council to serve the City of Thornton generally and advocate for policies that meet and serve Ward 3 residents’ needs specifically. I’d like to help steer the city into the future by representing Ward 3 residents to City of Thornton offices as policies and programs are developed city-wide. I’d also like to contribute to the cultural and economic development of the city by supporting all city residents’ origins and the needs of small business, woven into a thriving city-wide tapestry. Finally, I’d like to be part of the bulwark that helps protect the City of Thornton from the negative impacts of state, regional or national decisions.

Devin Byrd
I moved to Thornton in 2010 and returned with my wife, Chelsea, in 2017 to raise our daughter, who currently attends a local school in Ward 3. I comprehend the challenges faced by families, homeowners, and small businesses. With over a decade of experience in cybersecurity and leadership, I bring my problem-solving mindset, fiscal discipline, and family-first values to City Council. I’m dedicated to constructing a safer, more intelligent, and resilient Thornton for all residents. Thornton deserves strong, accountable leadership founded on vision, integrity, and dedication. I am running for City Council in Ward 3 because I believe we can establish a safer, stronger, and more interconnected community, one where families flourish, businesses thrive, and taxpayer funds are managed responsibly.
I am not a career politician; I am a father, a neighbor, a cybersecurity professional, and a community leader who is dedicated to enhancing Thornton. From serving on the Woodbridge Station HOA board to mentoring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, I have committed my time and expertise to developing safer systems, stronger communities, and innovative solutions. Presently, I aspire to bring that same level of commitment to City Council—ensuring Thornton’s responsible growth, safety, and continued status as a place we are all proud to call home.

My life has been defined by service to my country and my community. As a Marine Officer deployed around the world, as a volunteer locally on boards and commissions for Thornton, and as a small business owner, I’ve always felt the call to serve those around me. It’s who I am. Now, I’m running to represent Ward 4 on Thornton City Council. My mission is simple: to serve you and help make Thornton a place where our families—and future generations—can thrive. With your support, I’ll bring energy, experience, and a service-first mindset to City Council—and I’ll work every day to put our residents first.
